In 2008, I was hit and run over by a car.
I was crossing the street at 25th St. and 11th Ave. in Chelsea when a car making a left hand turn slammed into my body. She hit me on the right side of my body; I was flung up onto the hood of her car, my head slamming into the windshield. I was flung to the concrete, landed on my left hip and my right ankle, unbeknownst to me at the time, was run over.
What I thought would last 3 or 4 days of healing, a week at most, wound up lasting over 4 1/2 years at its highest intensity.
I was shocked, shaken and scared.
The pain in my left hip and right ankle was tremendous.
I found myself in the middle of a lawsuit.
The pain spread. Everywhere.
My young life was thrown for a loop in the most literal sense of the word and I had NO IDEA what the fuck was happening.
I got the worst haircut of my life.
I was laid off from my job. (not because of my haircut, though I could be wrong.)
I couldn't stop crying.
I started seeing a million doctors -- family medicine doctors, sports medicine doctors, chiropractors, neurologists, physical therapists, massage therapists, spinal surgeons, pain specialists... and on and on. (sans insurance)
Nothing was helping and the pain was getting worse.
I had a violent allergic reaction to a steroid shot in my hip.
My doctor at the time didn't even address the issue, but rather, questioned me as to whether I was telling the truth.
Nothing made sense. NOTHING.
I was forced to redefine everything I thought I knew about myself and the world. I had to rethink and re-imagine my entire life moving forward.
Everything I thought I knew for sure was called into question.
So I started searching outside the box...
I got certified as a yoga teacher thinking I could find the magic yoga pose to heal my pain. (There's no such pose.)
I did a 10-Day Master Cleanse to try and "detox" from the pain. (didn't work, but I did have a really amusing dream my 2nd night on the cleanse that involved breaking my cleanse with Will Ferrell and Chicken Lo Mein.)
I changed my diet to be anti-inflammatory and whole foods-based (besides the occassional Chicken Lo Mein splurge).
I started working with an acupuncturist/ healer/ Chinese medicine practitioner who also worked with visualization, cupping and Sat Nam Rasayan.
I worked with an energy healer.
I worked with a life coach.
I worked with a spiritual counselor.
I worked with a naturopathic doctor.
I worked with a structural integration therapist.
I worked with a Reiki practitioner.
I worked with an acupressure practitioner.
I got my chart done. (my detailed astrological profile)
I went on a 10-day silent meditation retreat to try and find insight into what had happened. (NOT A GOOD IDEA for someone in chronic pain to try and sit still for 10 hours a day 10 days in a row. Just sayin.)
I worked with a behavioral health counselor and found out I had PTSD. (!)
I researched the sh*t out of everything PTSD.
I started consciously using writing and music as tools in my recovery.
I started experimenting with Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE).
I had a miraculous EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) session and had a HUGE breakthrough.
I spent a week at The Chopra Center immersing myself in the ancient practice of ayurveda, learning primordial sound meditation and my life, my body and my spirit continued to shift.
What I want you to know, is that I get it.
I get how deeply important ALL INTEGRATIVE MODALITIES are.
I could not have gotten to where I am today without them.
and i'm committed to helping you, as a lightworker,
rise up so you can help heal the world.
In addition to my personal experience, I am also a certified Life Coach, Pro EFT (Progressive Energy Field Tapping) Coach
and yoga teacher. I received my training through The Institute of Coaching and Pro EFT, with Pro EFT Master, Lindsay Kenny.
I have also studied extensively with internationally recognized life coaches, Debbie Ford and Rhonda Britten in the areas
of human potential, shadow work, ego-integration and transformation. I am a dedicated student of A Course in Miracles.
More than anything, I am a student, just doing my best to figure it out.
